Through one of the greatest challenges of my life, I learned that the impact of my actions are far greater than I ever imagined.
One day, I was fine. The next, I was in the hospital with a rare infection called MIS-A during COVID. There have only been about 250 cases worldwide, and I’m one of only a handful of adult survivors. I spent 10 days in the hospital and lost 50 pounds. The doctors told me if I hadn’t been in good shape, both physically and mentally, I would have died. But I was so motivated to be here for my family, that I kept fighting.
Everyone prepared for the worst, and it felt like attending my own funeral. I heard from family, friends, clients, and even people I’d only spoken to a few times about the impact I’d had on them. I couldn’t believe it. I thought treating people well was just the norm, but it made me realize how far being kind can go. That experience was incredibly humbling.
My background and upbringing instilled in me the belief that nothing is impossible or unachievable. I was born in Haiti, immigrated to New York at 5, then Boston at 7. My mom worked 18-hour days to provide. We came here with nothing, and her efforts showed me it was in fact the land of opportunity. I went to Minnesota for college where I studied PR and marketing. I then went on to play arena football professionally and worked in sales for years. And with every new achievement and step up the ladder, I never lost sight of what is most important. You have to treat people right, with kindness and respect.
Another lesson I’ve learned is prioritizing the people in my life. I’ll never forget the day my wife looked at me and said, “You have to choose.” I was working 70-80 hours a week as a GM at a national fitness chain, running the number one club in the Midwest. I was doing well by every metric, except the ones that really mattered. We were expecting our first child. And as my now-wife put it, I was married to my job, not my family. That was all it took. I resigned, walked away from the security and the accolades, and decided to bet on myself in real estate.
It was an especially big leap because I didn’t have a big network. I had to build everything from scratch. I knocked on doors, held open houses, and was constantly putting myself out there. There were no shortcuts. But I stayed in the fight. I don’t subscribe to the idea that something can’t be done. If I hear “you can’t,” that just motivates me to prove I can.
And sure enough, all those efforts had a compounding effect. My business grew and I built a reputation for being a trustworthy representative who really cares about my clients. As I like to say to my clients, “We’re friends now,” and I am here to be your support, your guide, and someone who really has your back through everything. I take responsibility for the whole process. Win, lose, or draw, it’s on me.
I don’t believe in doing things halfway, but now I don’t have to choose between career or family. I have three daughters, Vivienne, Victoria, and Alexandra. I’m a full-on dance dad. They love it and I love cheering them on. I was also PTO president at my daughters’ school and stay involved as a member still. Quality time with family is a huge priority for me, and something I really value.
When I was in the hospital, I had a lot of time to reflect on my journey and hear from the people in my life how I have impacted them. The fact that I survived was a miracle, and with it came a new appreciation for each chapter in my life, the values that were instilled in me, and the relationships I have that I will never take for granted. That experience left me certain I was on the right path.
Success in life isn’t about numbers; it’s about the lives you touch along the way. I work hard, do the right thing, and always put people first because that’s what really matters.
Something not a lot of people know about me is that I’m actually a huge nerd. In school, my passion was reading, and I was always in honors classes. I just happened to also be good at football. I love to learn and am constantly fine-tuning my processes and expanding my knowledge. That, paired with my determination and work ethic, gives me a unique edge in real estate. I’m always striving to do better and offer more value to my clients.
My business philosophy is simple: do good business. I keep my clients updated at every step, never leaving them guessing. When something needs to get done, I connect you with trusted professionals, help oversee the work, and keep timelines on track. If problems arise, I quickly find solutions and present clear options so you can make the best decision for your situation. When it comes to marketing your home, I go above and beyond by featuring listings in major publications like the New York Times and securing preferred placement on top real estate platforms such as homes.com. My goal is to create such a great experience that you not only achieve your real estate goals, but also gain a REALTOR® and friend for life you know you can count on!
Sincerely,
